Soul and gospel singer Merry Clayton was hospitalized with injuries, after being involved in a serious car accident in Los Angeles, according to Rolling Stone.

The 65-year-old, whose stellar singing career has paired her with the likes of such performing dynamos as Ray Charles (as one of The Raelettes), Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, and The BlackByrds (she was the powerhouse female voice on their R&B 70′s mega hit “Rockcreek Park”), reportedly suffered major trauma in her lower extremities and has a long road to recovery from the accident.
