With tears in her eyes and a quivering voice, 47-year-old The View co-host and comedian Sherri Shepherd
gave her emotional goodbye speech.
Her reason for going? She believes her season at the chat show has come to completion. Has that moment of
transition come in your career?
You might not be famous, with a six-figure salary like Sherri. Or, who knows? You might.
Either way, like my favorite scripture in Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, there is a season for everything under Heaven.
There’s a time to take the job and to leave the job—although that’s not a direct biblical quote, you get my drift.
One of the things Sherri said is, “You guys know that I often talk about my faith. I’m a woman of faith and seven
in the Bible is the number of God’s completion. And I’ve been here seven years, and my time at The View is
complete.”
Her number was seven. Yours may be three or four. You may have even maxed out at the two-year mark. That
timeframe is different for everyone, but you have to know yours.
So how do you know it’s over? When should you start exploring other career options?
