It’s an annual Labor Day event that draws hundreds of people. Folks packed Kinsman Road on Cleveland’s east side for the 11th Congressional District Community Caucus Annual Labor Day Parade.

This marked the 43rd year for the parade, with the theme for 2014 being “Communities Working Together: Each One Reach One.”

“The energy is high. The candidates are out strong and all families are out here. This is a family tradition, and we just love it,” said Margie Chambers, of Cleveland.

There were bands, floats, and many Democratic politicians meeting constituents and courting labor groups.

“Things like this are for our people, a celebration and opportunity for people to come together,” Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson said.

Many in the crowd said it’s a yearly tradition for their families.

“I used to be in the parade when I was a kid, and I want my girl to get a chance to experience the family tradition,” said Shade Hayes, of Cleveland.

Congresswoman Marcia Fudge (D-House District 11) served as Grand Marshal.
