In American culture, virginity remains under attack. Those who choose to save themselves for marriage are often ridiculed and mocked.

But Christian actress and comedienne Sherri Shepherd touted the virtues of the V-card during a recent appearance on the Wendy Williams Show.

In defense of 32-year-old virgin and fellow Christian Lolo Jones, Shepherd said, “I think it’s great that she’s sticking to her values and wants to be a virgin,” disagreeing with the Olympian’s critics.

She continued, “Nobody applauds anybody sticking to their values, but when they mess up, they go ‘Where’s your values?’”

True.

Jones first made headlines in 2012 when, during an HBO Real Sports interview, she revealed that she was, at the time, a 29-year-old virgin, saving herself for marriage.

It’s just something, a gift that I want to give to my husband. But please, understand, this journey has been hard,” said the star, who was recently voted off the popular television show, “Dancing with the Stars”.

Jones made it clear that it was her core Christian convictions, not the easiness of remaining abstinent, that helped her keep her sexual habits in line with God’s word.
