A local developer has big plans to help transform part of downtown Cleveland. Some are calling it “the Crocker Park of Downtown.”

A wall of who’s who shines at Mr. Albert’s Men’s World store downtown. Ike Simmon has run the business for decades.

“We’ve been downtown since 1978,” says Simmon.

But that will likely change.

Stark Enterprises, the same company that developed Crocker Park in Westlake, wants to build a $350 million project called “nuCLEus.” The project includes a building with 500 apartment units, offices, stores, restaurants and a parking lot with 1,500 spaces just north of the Q on Prospect Avenue.

Caitlin Cassidy moved to Cleveland from New York eight years ago. She says she’s impressed with the development that’s taken place downtown over the past few years.

“The fact that people want to live down here and be down here all the time is really exciting, and Cleveland is turning around. And I’m excited to be a part of it. The stuff that’s going on downtown is amazing,” explains Cassidy.
