The City of Cleveland and police will release the video showing Saturday’s deadly police shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice at a press conference at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the city’s communications command center on St. Clair Avenue.
Officials made the announcement at a community meeting Tuesday night at the Cudell Recreation Center.
The video is said to clearly show the shooting incident Saturday at the Cudell Recreation Center.
Police were responding to a call of a young man waving a gun, scaring people.
Officers said they asked Rice to raise his hands and he went for the gun in his waistband.
It turned out to be an air-soft gun that did not have the orange marking on it that could have distinguished it from a real handgun.
The city had said it was not releasing the video of concern for Rice’s family and the officer involved.
