1. BRITISH ROYALS

They’re here!: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will start their whirlwind three-day visit to New York City today.  William and Kate arrived  last night – minus a certain chubby-cheeked lil’ royal.  The couple attended a private dinner last night, and will start a series of activities today, including a children’s craft group in Harlem and an NBA game.

2. CHOKEHOLD PROTESTS

Carols and burnings: Protesters in New York City sang “justice carols” as demonstrators show their anger over a grand jury’s decision not to indict a police officer in the chokehold death of Eric Garner. In Missouri, a group held a different kind of protest: They burned St. Louis Rams football jerseys because they’re unhappy some players made the “hands-up-don’t-shoot” gesture.

3. TYPHOON HAGUPIT

Already blamed for two deaths in the Philippines, Hagupit is tipped to move west across the country today, with sustained 80-mph winds and potentially devastating rains.
