The US Postal Service says they will process and deliver over 553 millions cards, letters, and packages each day from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve. This all adds up to a whopping 15.5 billion items delivered during that time.

Their busiest day is Dec. 15, and USPS says they will ship 640 pieces of mail. They are projecting that 470 million packages will be delivered, a 12 percent increase over 2013’s numbers.

USPS will deliver seven days a week until Christmas Day to ensure all mail arrives on time. To ensure your package arrives by Christmas, you must mail it out by:

-December 15 if using Standard Post

-December 17 if using Global Express

-December 20 if using 1st Class Mail

-December 21 if using Priority Mail

-December 23 if using Priority Mail Express

The Post Office also has several holiday programs, including Operation Santa, Holiday Stamps, and Letters from Santa.
