Students of the University School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve say they were moved by the recent events taking place in Ferguson, MO and in New York City– so much so that they held a demonstration Wednesday afternoon.

The students planned a “die-in” demonstration that was held at 3 p.m. at the Biomedical Research Building of CWRU’s medical campus located at 2109 Adelbert Rd., Cleveland, OH, 44106.

Prompted by the failure to indict the police officers involved in the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, groups around the country have participated in demonstrations to show their objections to the decisions.

Concerns regarding racism and violence have been at the forefront of media coverage since the summer incidents.

Students at Case say their demonstration is intended to 1) show solidarity with the victims and families of the recent tragedies and 2) acknowledge the relation of violence and racism to health.
