The pay increase is welcome news for cashier Jade Anderson, whose job is a classic minimum wage occupation.

“I have been a cashier for 20 plus years,” Anderson said. “It will impact me and my family. It’s good news.”A mother of two, Anderson has been waiting awhile for the hike.

“For a long time, a lot of families have been piecing together incomes just to make ends meet,” she said.

Darryl Billips is one of the employers who will soon have to pay his employees more money and he likes that.
