Brutally bitter: Yes, we know it’s winter. 30 federal charges: He’s accused of plotting with his brother and carrying out an attack at the Boston Marathon that killed three people, wounded more than 260 and spurred a massive manhunt that terrorized the city for days. And now, almost 19 months after the bombings, jury selection for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s trial begins today. He has pleaded not guilty to more than 30 federal charges, including using and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction resulting in death.

AIRASIA FLIGHT QZ8501

More bodies found: As the search for AirAsia Flight QZ8501 stretches into its second week, the Java Sea continues to slowly give up the remains of the 162 victims as well as parts of the plane. So far, 34 bodies have been recovered. Several family members told CNN that they received a letter from AirAsia with preliminary compensation details: about $24,000 for each relative who was on the plane.
