It’s a day of service to some. It’s about remembrance or education to others.
Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. There are several events set around the community to help residents recognize it.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is recognized on the third Monday of January, around the time of King’s Jan. 15 birthday.
Events planned in the area include:
Akron-Summit County Main Library Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Program
WHEN: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18
WHERE: Akron-Summit County Main Library, 60 High St., Akron. The “Martin Luther King Jr.: The Man and the Dream” documentary will be shown. A panel discussion will follow.
Candlelight March
WHEN: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20
WHERE: Berea-Midpark High School, 165 East Bagley Road, Berea. The MLK Candlelight March will begin at the high school and move west on Bagley Road ending at BW’s Center for Innovation and Growth.
