Two Cleveland police officers were taken to the Cleveland Clinic with injuries after an incident on Cleveland’s east side, according to Cleveland EMS. At least one shot was fired.

It happened Wednesday evening in the 7600 block of Redell Avenue.

According to Cleveland Police Department spokesman Sgt. Ali Pillow, the two officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and one suspect is in custody.

Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said around 5 p.m. officers were responding to a burglary ten blocks away from the eventual scuffle. “During the burglary, the home owner actually came home and discovered the person burglarizing their home,” Williams told WKYC Channel 3’s Hilary Golston. “A shot was fired at that home owner by that burglar.”
