Former Ohio State football star Maurice Clarett has been released from probation early.

The now 31-year-old Clarett had helped the Buckeyes win the 2002 national championship but later was sent to prison after robbery and weapons and convictions. He was released in 2010 and ordered to serve five years of intensive probation.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Franklin County Common Pleas Judge David Fais on Wednesday released Clarett from probation two months early. The judge called him “one of the truly wonderful success stories.”

Clarett has worked to become a role model for young people, delivering motivational speeches and writing an autobiography.
