They may seem invisible because you don’t see where they’re living: in a tent, under bridges, just beyond the city lights… citizens without homes.
Channel 3 is bringing you an in depth look at homelessness, particularly those who have created make-shift dwellings outside.
Brian Davis, the executive director for the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homelesshas dedicated a lot of time and effort to studying and working on homelessness. “Those hardcore who are resistant to shelter and stay outside hovers around 120 in the winter every night but goes up to around 600 in the summer,” Davis wrote Channel 3’s Hilary Golston in an e-mail. Those figures are just in Cuyahoga County.
The most recent data the coalition has gathered on homelessness estimates comes from 2013. There are 23,512 homeless in Cuyahoga County alone, according to the figures.
The following figures illustrate the number of estimated homeless collected by the coalition in several Northeast Ohio counties.
