2015 is a year of transition for media mogul Oprah Winfrey.

The OWN CEO is closing Harpo Studios after 26 years, laying off 200 employees, and moving all productions to the new Los Angeles headquarters.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Winfrey said of the Windy City, “We were here when there was nothing but hoes and rats on the street, and now it’s one of the hottest neighborhoods [in Chicago].”

Though the choice to pack up shop has been a difficult one, the 61-year-old said, “The time had come to downsize this part of the business and to move forward. It will be sad to say goodbye, but I look ahead with such a knowing that what the future holds is even more than I can see.”

A small group of Harpo employees will keep their jobs and work with the approximately 140 OWN employees at the network’s new three-floor space at West Hollywood’s The Lot.

The rest will maintain employed through December.
