Spring is upon us with warmer weather, spring flowers and along with them the start of orange barrel season across the state of Ohio.

The Ohio Department of Transportation on Monday officially revealed its plans for over 900 projects across the state at a price tag of $2.4 billion. The list includes 50 more projects than were undertaken in 2014.

In Macedonia, ODOT Director Jerry Wray joined others to detail more than $560 million dollars of work to roads and bridges. Among the major projects on the list is a $46.7 re-paving of Interstate 271 at Richfield in which the existing pavement will be completely removed and replaced, resulting in ramp closures.

Already underway is the widening of the same interstate from Route 8 in Macedonia to the Cuyahoga County line at a cost of $44.5 million, a project that will also include the widening of several bridges.
