Summer is still months away, but some members of Cleveland City Council are urging the Cleveland Metroparks to put lifeguards at two of the city’s east side beaches.
On Monday, Ward 8 Councilman Mike Polensek, along with the public works committee, voted unanimously to pass Resolution No. 238-15.
“We’ve been talking to the Metroparks. I attended a board meeting last week. Look, we need lifeguards at Euclid Beach and Villa Angela,” Polensek said.
Right now, there are no lifeguards at those two beaches because the waters there are unsafe.
“We know that when the weather gets warm, just like our city pools, the kids will be there. And then we have issues,” Polensek said.
