Three men who spent almost 20 years in prison for a murder they say they didn’t commit are home with their families Thursday.

Eugene Johnson, Derrick Wheatt, and Laurese Glover are free to walk out of the Justice Centerbecause the court found evidence of prosecutor misconduct.

There were two witnesses that police interviewed after Clifton Hudson was murdered in 1995 on Strathmore Avenue in East Cleveland. Neither file made it’s way to the defense attorneys. That alone was enough to release the three men.

“The court finds that the three defendants motions for new trials are well taken and granted,” said Judge Nancy Russo.

Freedom granted for the men who, despite the handcuffs, maintained their innocence for almost 20 years. Thursday, a judge believed them.
