It’ll be a Cleveland double-header. First Indians take on Detroit Tigers at 4 p.m., then as those 40,000 people are leaving, another 20,000 will enter the Quicken Loans Arena to watch the Cavs and Boston Celtics at 7:30 p.m. What makes Friday even more special, Cavs are just coming off clinched the division and Indians are just coming off a near no-hitter.
Rich Sutkes left work early Thursday to watch the Indians pitch the near-no hitter.
“Essentially there is a no-hitter going, well pack it up and we will go across the street and watch the rest of the game,” said Sutkes. “So, we basically came over here to watch the rest of the game. Unfortunately, they didn’t get it.”
But there’s always tomorrow! And by Friday, the Tribe will have 40,000 folks cheering them on in the home opener.
“I called my wife and I pulled the kids out of school early,” said Sutkes. “She said no problem by the tickets, so we are going to the game tomorrow.”
