For many, Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start to summer and festival season. Many communities in northeast Ohio have planned fun events to attend this weekend.

Cleveland Downtown will host the 24th annualMarc’s Great American Rib Cook-Off. The event kicks off Friday and runs through Monday featuring BBQ from all over the U.S.

This year’s music line-up includes America, Steel Panther and Michael Stanley and the Resonators. Tickets are $8 for adults and free for kids under 12. They’ll have the grills fired up from noon -11 p.m. each day, except for Sunday when they close at 8 p.m.

Berea will also be serving up ribs and music at their 17th annual Berea’s National Rib Cook-Off. Parking is free and admission is free for kids under 12.

In Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood, the Greekfest begins Friday to Sunday from noon to midnight and on Monday from noon to 9 p.m. The event will serve Greek foods, drinks, music and performances.

In Akron, the Rock the Lock concert season kicks off tonight (Thursday) with The #1 National Lynyrd Skynrd Tribute Band and local band G Force. Free admission there as well.
