Wanted in the gruesome slayings of a prominent Washington family and their housekeeper, quadruple murder suspect Daron Dylon Wint was tailed by federal authorities from the nation’s capital to New York and back before he was arrested late Thursday.

“We tracked him up to New York City and barely missed him last night,” said Cmdr. Robert Fernandez with the U.S. Marshals Service.

Members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force then followed Wint’s trail to a Howard Johnson hotel in College Park, Maryland, just outside the capital.

But instead of being inside, Wint was leaving the hotel parking lot in a car as they arrived.

About 20 task force vehicles and a helicopter took up the pursuit.

After tailing him for about five miles, they eventually surrounded Wint, who was traveling in the back of a Chevy Cruse, and a small box truck that was traveling with him.
