A brighter chapter began Wednesday in the lives of Cleveland kidnapping survivors Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus.

The two women received honorary diplomas from John Marshall High School during the school’s commencement ceremony at The Wolstein Center.
When Amanda Berry disappeared, she was 17-years-old and enrolled in the gifted program at John Marshall High.

Gina De Jesus was 14-years-old in 7th grade at Wilbur Wright Middle School when she was kidnapped.

Both women have expressed interest in earning their high school diplomas and start careers.

In previous interviews, Amanda she said was considering fashion or possibly psychology as a career.

Now she is focusing on her daughter Jocelyn’s education. She began school in the fall.
