It took overtime to do it, but behind the free-throw shooting of Stephen Curry and a timely three-pointer from Harrison Barnes, the Golden State Warriors earned a 108-100 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the NBA Finals at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, Thursday night.

The Cavaliers failed to score a single point in the first four minutes of the extra session, and to add injury to insult, they lost point guard Kyrie Irving midway through overtime with an injury. Irving, who has battled injuries to both legs throughout the postseason, fell to the floor while trying to move with the ball and, after a turnover, hobbled down the court on defense.

During a timeout, Irving gingerly walked to the locker room, and then, once through the tunnel, he was shown on television to be hobbling badly.

Cavaliers small forward LeBron James led the way with 44 points, five rebounds and six assists, and prior to the injury, Irving poured in 23 in the loss. In addition to James and Irving, the Cavaliers got a double-digit effort from center Timofey Mozgov (16 points).
