There is word tonight that some Cleveland community leaders will not wait for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office to make a decision in the Tamir Rice case.

Instead, they will invoke a seldom-used Ohio law and take their case straight to a judge to request murder charges against the officers involved in the shooting death of the 12-year-old.

That’s according to the New York Times.

The newspaper reports that community leaders are concerned that nothing will be done in the wake of Tamir’s death, so they are taking matters into their own hands.

The paper reports that a request could be filed as early as Tuesday morning.

Rice was killed while playing with a pellet gun outside the Cudell Rec Center on November 22, 2014.
