Cleveland City Councilman Mike Polensek is taking on the Cleveland Metroparks for its recent decision to prohibit “body contact with water” at Euclid Beach, Villa Angela Beach and Euclid Creek.

Polensek released a statement Wednesday afternoon.

“Cleveland Councilman Michael D. Polensek, Ward 8, finds the Cleveland Metroparks recent decision to prohibit swimming, wading and even walking in the water at Euclid Beach, Villa Angela Beach and Euclid Creek outrageous.

Metroparks is already enforcing this rule, recently arresting and ticketing a neighborhood resident whose young daughter was wading in the lake, as well as threatening others with tickets and arrests. Metroparks Board of Commissioners is scheduled to hear and vote on the related policy statement and regulations at their regular Board Meeting on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 8:30 am.
