The 7th annual “Cops Ride” in downtown Cleveland on June 28 will focus on two Ohio officers killed in the last year. Akron Police Officer Justin Winebrenner was killed back on Nov. 16, 2014. The 7-year veteran will be honored alongside Cincinnati Police Officer Sonny Kim, a 27-year veteran who died just three days ago on June 19.

The event begins at 10:30 a.m. with a rally and ceremony at the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers’ Memorial at W. 3rd Street and Lakeside Avenue.

As in years past, Channel 3’s Monica Robins will serve as emcee, starting with singing the National Anthem.

Speakers include Cathy Clark, widow of Cleveland Detective Robert James Clark II, killed in the line of duty in July 1998.

An expected 600 motorcyclists will begin showing up around 8:30 a.m., each donating $20 per person to participate in the 40-mile police-escorted ridE.
