The Cuyahoga County prosecutor says the trial for five Cleveland police supervisors charged with misdemeanors for failing to control a high-speed chase that ended in two deaths will be held in East Cleveland courtroom and not county court.
Tim McGinty on Monday said East Cleveland officials contacted his office about trying the case after a Cleveland patrolman was acquitted by a judge in May of felony charges for his role in a deadly 137-shot barrage of police gunfire.
McGinty says East Cleveland is an appropriate venue because lives were endangered there during the chase and shooting in November 2012.
An attorney for one of the supervisors says moving the trial to East Cleveland is inappropriate and that the lawyers are ready go to trial in county court July 27
