The mother of 12-year-old Tamir Rice has informed a federal judge that she intends to fire the attorney representing the family in a wrongful death lawsuit.
Samaria Rice filed a declaration in federal court Monday claiming that her current lawyers, Walter T. Madison and Parks & Crump failed to “explain everything to me and to consult with me about the case and to give me their undivided attention.”
In court records, Samaria Rice also says she “expressed concerns” that Tamir’s biological father had begun to appear at press conferences and she was “neither informed nor consulted,” adding that this “was very upsetting to me.”
Rice said in court documents that the biological father “was not involved in raising Tamir”.
Samaria Rice has informed federal Judge Solomon Oliver that she intends to hire the New York firm of Emery Celli Brinckerhoff & Abady, LLP, the Chicago firm of FirmEquity and The Chandra Law Firm, LLC of Cleveland.
A hearing is scheduled Tuesday in federal court.
