22-time Stellar Award-winning gospel singer Marvin Sapp, is having a great year indeed.
After seeing his latest album, You Shall Live, shoot to the top of the charts, the Michigan-based pastor has received the “Living Legend” award.
The distinguished honor was bestowed upon the 48-year-old at the 12thannual McDonald’s 365Black Awards at ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans. Fellow gospel artists Jonathan McReynolds and Smokie Norful performed, while veteran singer Yolanda Adams presented an award.
Hosted by TV host/actor Terrence J and actress/singer Keke Palmer, the 365Black awards also paid tribute to Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Ava DuVernay (Selma); civic leader Marc Morial; journalist and communications specialist Jeff Johnson; and McDonald’s owner/operator Carolyn Hunter.
