The North Olmsted Board of Education passed a measure that would require students to pass a drug test to participate in extra-curricular activities and park at the high school.

The new rule states students from 9th to 12th grade who wish to participate “in the co-curricular and student athletic programs” or “non-graded co-curricular or extra-curricular activity” must take a drug test before the start of the program’s season.

After that, students can be randomly tested more than once per program season.

Students may also be randomly tested in the off-season (fall, winter, spring).

If students refuse to take the random off-season test, they may not be able to participate in the program the remainder of the year or following season.
