Empire’s Cookie Lyon will ride or die for her three sons Andre, Jamal and Hakeem – and the same goes for Taraji P. Henson when it comes to the actors who play the Lyon heirs, Trai Byers, Jussie Smollett and Bryshere “Yazz” Gray, respectively.
“They are so sweet, my Jussie and my Yazz,” Henson said at the recent Television Critics of America press tour. “Trai is cool, he seems more reserved and calm and more mature. Not to say that the other two aren’t, but they’re younger. I just had a conversation with Yazz the other day about saving his money, you know? Not believing your own hype. I’m constantly checking in with them.”
