Ohio State and Virginia Tech will wear helmet stickers during Monday’s game in Blacksburg, Va., to pay tribute to two television journalists that were killed in August.

Alison Parker and Adam Ward, who were members of Roanoke, Va.’s CBS affiliate, WDBJ-7, were killed Aug. 26 while conducting a live interview in Moneta, Va.

Virginia Tech announced Sunday they would wear the stickers, and the Buckeyes requested permission to wear them as well.

“Ohio State expressed a desire to show its solidarity with Virginia Tech in remembering the vibrant lives of Alison Parker and Adam Ward,” Tech Director of Athletics Whit Babcock said. “Coach Beamer and I both agreed it was a wonderful gesture on the part of Gene Smith (Ohio State AD), Urban Meyer (head coach) and the Buckeyes. We hope fans of both teams join us in hopefully providing some solace to the friends, families and co-workers who continue to miss Alison and Adam.”

The stickers will feature the No. 7 with maroon and teal ribbons and the initials of the victims. Ward graduated from Virginia Tech in 2011, and Parker’s favorite color was teal.
