Cleveland’s first African-American television reporter Pete Cary passed away on Sunday at the age of 86.
Pete, a pioneer in Cleveland broadcasting, worked at FOX 8 from 1966-1989. He was hired to cover the Hough Riots from his prior job at WJMO Radio.
While at Channel 8, Pete covered a variety of stories as a general assignment reporter, and he was also a host and producer of the Public Affairs shows “Rap and Neighborhood.”
