In a rematch of last season’s Eastern Conference Finals, the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, 98-96, in tonight’s preseason opener at the Cintas Center on the campus of Xavier University in Cincinnati.
The Hawks outscored the Cavaliers in three of the four quarters, including a 31-30 edge in the fourth after Cleveland battled hard throughout the third and trimmed a 13-point lead with seven minutes to go down to a single point in the final seconds of the period.
