GospelPundit.com recently chatted with Motown Gospel recording artist Janice Gaines about the release of her debut album, Greatest Life Ever. She shared about her style, her influences and her experience working with hitmaker LaShawn “Big Shiz” Daniels

Q: The music on Greatest Life Ever is stylistically urban and pop-influenced, and you do them authentically. On future projects, are there any other styles that you want to explore as well?

A: I think I, like any artist, want the freedom to explore anything that might come out of me. I have such an eclectic taste in music. I write songs based on what I feel, when I feel it, so sometimes it’s more of a story like country music. Other times, it’s more Americana. Sometimes it’s more pop than anything. And sometimes, I just want to sing “traditional,” because I’m from Memphis! I’m just looking forward to the freedom of being an artist.
