For the second weekend in a row, drivers will experience significant traffic changes as I-77 and I-71 experience closures.
I-71 North closure information
It begins at 10 a.m. Friday (Oct. 23) with the closure of I-71 North over the Jennings Freeway at the Metro Curve (approaching the Innerbelt).
“Due to the amount of work on I-71, we’ve condensed the schedule to fit into one, final weekend closure,” says Jocelynn Clemings, an ODOT spokesperson. “The 10 a.m. closure allows us to complete the needed work in this area without completely closing the roadway again.”
The work being done includes resurfacing the bridge.
The closure of I-71 North will continue until 6 a.m. Monday (Oct. 26).
Drivers will be detoured using I-490 East to I-77 North to reach downtown and I-90. The southbound lanes of I-71 are not impacted by this work.
In addition, the West 25th Street/Fulton Road onramps to I-71 North will be closed throughout the same timeframe.
