Someone is deliberately setting fires to churches in St. Louis and police are looking for the culprit. Six out of seven of the torched houses of worship are predominantly African-American.
The latest blaze at mostly white Shrine of St. Joseph Catholic Church is in a majority black area.
This is a “very similar type of fire that happened with the other six church fires,” Dennis Jenkerson, chief of the city’s fire department, told media gathered at the scene.
He said it was “small, contained, didn’t take us much to put it out but it’s very disturbing.”
Flames charred the bottom of the doors, but did not spread to the small foyer.
