Election results rolled in later than usual Tuesday night, following delays in southern Ohio.

A last-minute injunction, requested by ResponsibleOhio, extended voting hours in Hamilton County until 9 p.m. That led to Ohio Secretary of State John Husted instructing counties to withhold statewide election results until 9 p.m. to “ensure fairness.”

No results were posted until 9 p.m. in Cuyahoga County as well.

Voters headed to the polls to decide on three statewide issues. Ohioans approved Issue 1, which changed the way state legislative districts are drawn, and Issue 2, which banned constitutional monopolies.

Ohio voters rejected Issue 3, an amendment to legalize marijuana.

Cuyahoga County residents passed Issue 8, a renewal tax on cigarettes benefiting the arts.

Meanwhile, in Akron, voters elected Democrat Dan Horrigan as the first new mayor in 28 years.
