There are over six billion mobile devices in the world and according to an AT&T study, 57% of African-Americans use them to stay connected to their faith.

That’s more than any other group.

In an interview with Black Enterprise, Jennifer Jones, AT&T’s vice president of diverse markets said, “Instead of bringing and using their physical book Bible, they are utilizing an app to follow along with the scripture.”

Jason Caston, former manager of digital platforms and innovation for TD Jakes Ministries and head of AT&T’s Inspired Mobility began studying trends a few years ago.

AT&T Inspired Mobility, part study, part national conversation, highlights all the ways people use mobile technology, devices and the Internet to enhance their faith and inspiration.

“They are utilizing their devices to engage when they were away from a physical structure of a worship house—everything from live streaming of a service to daily devotionals, even having conversations on Twitter and other social media,” said Caston.
