A string of tough family losses continues for Donnie McClurkin—this time, a teenaged niece has passed away..
Donnie McClurkin has said goodbye to four family members in four years.
In 2011 he lost his father. In 2013, 10 months later, he lost his mother. In 2015, his sister went home to be with the Lord and now, approximately seven months later, his niece has died.
After learning of 13-year-old Trinity’s passing, the Grammy-winning artist said it “left me broken on stage” during a recent Festival of Praise tour stop.
In a Facebook video shared by the 55-year-old on his page, he is seen powerfully belting his massive hit, “Stand,” before being overcome with emotion mid-note.
Momentarily unable to sing through the tears, McClurkin’s tour mates, fellow gospel singers Kim Burrell, Jessica Reedy, Fred Hammond, Isaac Carree, Zacardi Cortez and Hezekiah Walker, surround him.
With outstretched arms, they pray and sing.
