Just because she stars in one of the most popular shows on prime time television does not mean “Empire” actress Taraji P. Henson is excluded from spiritual warfare.

When asked about terrorist attacks that killed over one hundred people in Paris, France last Friday, the 45-year-old actress seemed to lean on her Christian faith to share her perspective on the matter.

“Life is spiritual warfare and it’s dark against light, hate against love and death against life. I just feel like it’s unbalanced right now,” Henson recently told Hollywood Today Live.  “Right now it appears that darkness is winning but I just know in my heart that there’s more love out in the world. It always gets bad before it gets better.”

While the actress portrays a brash no-nonsense character named Cookie on the hit FOX network Hip Hop drama, she has not shied away from being vocal about her faith throughout the years. Despite the level of success that helped garner her an Academy Award nomination in 2009, Henson has admitted to overcoming spiritual warfare in the form of envy and pride.
