Obama: ‘This was an act of terrorism’:

President Barack Obama on Sunday issued his most passionate denunciation yet of ISIS, vowing to “destroy” the group in a relentless, strong and smart campaign that is consistent with the nation’s values.

But the speech — intended to reassure a nervous nation — didn’t announce an overhaul of a policy that critics have branded insufficient to take on the evolving threat.

Father of San Bernardino shooter says son supported ISIS:

he father of Syed Rizwan Farook told an Italian newspaper that his son, one of two shooters in last week’s San Bernardino massacre, supported ISIS ideology and was “fixated on Israel.”

Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, opened fire at Farook’s co-workers at a holiday party for the environmental health department before being gunned down hours later in a shootout with authorities.

When asked by reporter for the La Stampa newspaper whether his son had ever talked about ISIS, Farook’s father said that he had.

Jimmy Carter announces he is cancer-free:

Jimmy Carter’s cancer is gone, the former president announced on Sunday.

“My most recent MRI brain scan did not reveal any signs of the original cancer spots nor any new ones. I will continue to receive regular three-week immunotherapy treatments of pembrolizumab,” Carter said in a statement.

Carter, 91, first revealed the news in front of a Sunday School class he was teaching at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia.
