On Jan. 2, 2016, tweets began appearing online announcing that E. Dewey Smith’s mom, Verlene Smith, had passed away—news the preacher has since confirmed.
While no details have been released to the general public concerning the exact cause of death, the senior pastor of House of Hope Atlanta (Greater Travelers Rest) in Decatur has taken to Twitter to share personal sentiments.
“She gave me LIFE–birthed, carried, supported & LOVED me!” wrote Smith. “I’ll spend my life trying to make her proud! #RIPMomma.”
