A private meeting between the Cuyahoga County prosecutor and a group of Cleveland-area pastors scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled.
Pastors United invited Prosecutor Tim McGinty to meet with them this week to discuss the Tamir Rice shooting and the grand jury’s decision to not indict the officers involved in his death.
However, newsnet5.com received an email from the group of pastors Monday evening, saying the meeting had been canceled. The prosecutor’s office confirmed that Pastors United abruptly called off the meeting.
The Rev. Larry Macon, head of the United Pastors in Mission and pastor of Mt. Zion Church of Oakwood Village said the group of pastors cancelled the meeting. “We thought twice, that’s all,” said Macon.
Macon said after one of the pastors spoke with Tamir’s mother the decision was made to cancel the meeting. “The pastor rethought it and said this is a rough time for her,” said Macon.
