State Of The Union: Barack Obama Sells Optimism To Nervous Nation:

Putting aside a sudden crisis with Iran, President Barack Obama on Tuesday urged Americans in his final State of the Union address to reject the politics of tribalism and fear that have rocked the campaign to find his successor and to build a “clear-eyed, big-hearted” and “optimistic” nation.

Delivering his annual report to the nation, Obama did not name Republican 2016 candidates. But he took clear, implied shots at them nevertheless, particularly front-runner Donald Trump, as well as Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz. America’s destiny, the President said, was imperiled by a political system festering in malice, gridlock and in the grip of the rich and the powerful.

10 U.S. Sailors Detained By Iran Being Interrogated, Iran Says:

The 10 American sailors captured in Iran are being questioned, Iranian state media said Wednesday.

The sailors, held by the Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), “acted unprofessionally” after they were captured a day earlier, the state-owned Press TV said.

The state-run IRNA news agency said the sailors are “healthy and will be treated well.”

The sailors did not show resistance and will be released “as soon as the IRGC receives proper orders,” IRGC Navy Commander Admiral Ali Fadavi said on Iranian TV.

Fadavi said the presence of the U.S. Navy in the Persian Gulf waters “disturbed the security of the area” and criticized the U.S. Navy maneuvers.

Could You Guarantee Yourself A Powerball Jackpot?:

Could you game the system and guarantee yourself a $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot?

Here’s the theory: At $2 a ticket and 1 in 292 million odds, you could seemingly buy every Powerball combination for “just” $584 million — and still walk away with a massive profit.

The lump-sum jackpot payment is estimated to be about $930 million. That alone would give you a handsome $346 million profit if you bought every ticket. And since there are $92 million in lower-tier prizes, you’d win all of those too. And by flooding the system with all those tickets you purchased, the lump-sum value of the jackpot would rise by $200 million — which you’d theoretically win back.
