From the moment Jimmy Haslam fired Mike Pettine, one man stood out to me as the leader in the clubhouse. It’s Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson.

Do I know for certain that he will succeed and turn things around in the best football city in the NFL?  Absolutely not!  Of the candidates out there, remember that not everybody is lining up to interview here, I do feel it’s the best shot for a team with one playoff appearance and zero playoff wins since returning to the NFL in 1999. Without even thinking much about it, my reasoning was simple.

Hue Jackson has NFL head coaching experience. For once, that is the direction I want the Browns to take. Besides Eric Mangini, it’s a route the Browns have not taken in the six other coaching hires since 99. This franchise is on full time head coach number eight since returning to the NFL.
