The “Songbird of the South” Dottie Peoples is coping with the loss of her mother, Althea Milton.

Milton died on Jan. 21 at the age of 85 after battling a brief undisclosed illness.

The mother of eight children, she leaves behind her husband Robert Milton Sr. and host of other friends and family members.

The “On Time God” singer is preparing for her mother’s funeral services this Saturday, Jan. 30, which will take place at Divine Faith Ministries International in Jonesboro, Georgia. The homegoing service will be handled by the famed Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home.
