A county sheriff said Thursday it is possible “as many” as three to four people are dead, including a suspect, and up to 20 people may be injured after a series of shootings in south-central Kansas.

The Daily Mail has identified the shooter as 38-year-old Cedric Ford, a former employee at Excel Industries. Early reports says Ford, who may have had mental issues, was bullied by coworkers at some point.

Ford and four others are dead. Multiple others are injured.

Sheriff T. Walton said at a news conference Thursday evening there are “a number of crime scenes involved,” including the Excel Industries plant in Hesston, north of Wichita, which manufactures lawn mower products. The suspect, who Walton said was an Excel employee, was fatally shot by authorities.

The sheriff said a shooting also took place in the plant parking lot and two other locations nearby. The scene at Excel Industries has been secured, he said.
