Will this be the year that Cleveland finally wins a championship?

We’ll see what happens with the Cleveland Cavaliers, but the 50 year drought has filmmakers making movies about us.

Thursday, the Cleveland International Film Festival is celebrating its 40th anniversary and they are doing it in style with a showing of the world premiere of “Believeland” at the Connor Palace in Playhouse Square.

Andy Billman, Ohio native and University of Toledo graduate, directed this documentary. Part of ESPN’s “30 for 30” series, the film attempts to explain the devotion of Cleveland sports fans throughout the decades of The Drive, The Fumble, The Shot, and The Decision.

The documentary features many well-known figures in the history of Cleveland sports, including Jim Brown, Mike Brown, Earnest Byner, Jim Donovan, Craig Ehlo, Dan Gilbert, Aaron Goldhammer, Bob Golic, Tony Grossi, Arsenio Hall, Tom Hamilton, Mike Hargrove, Paul Hoynes, Kenny Lofton, Kevin Mack, David Modell, Charlie Nagy, Fred Nance, Scott Raab, Tony Rizzo, Marty Schottenheimer, Jim Thome, Wright Thompson, Mo Williams, Brian Windhorst, Felix Wright.
